We’re still about a year from opening.
Right now, MAYN Laundry Co. is more floor plans, equipment drawings, phone calls and long lists than it is a finished laundromat. But this feels like the right time to introduce ourselves.
MAYN is coming to 1821 N State Road 7, along US 441 in Margate. We expect to open in summer 2027 with self service laundry and drop off wash and fold.
That is the practical information. The more important question is why we’re building it.
Laundry day should simply work
Most people do not want laundry day to be an event. They want a clean machine, enough room for the load they brought, a place to fold, and help nearby if something is confusing.
They want to get in, get their laundry done properly, and get on with the rest of the day.
That simple idea has shaped nearly every conversation we’ve had about MAYN.
We’re thinking about the parent arriving with a week’s worth of clothes. The person trying to wash a comforter that does not fit comfortably at home. The customer coming after work who wants clear instructions and a place that feels looked after. The neighbor who would rather leave a bag with us and come back when it is washed and folded.
Those are ordinary situations. We think they deserve a laundromat designed with some care.
Why our family decided to build MAYN
After more than 20 years in executive leadership, I stepped down following the sale of the business. It was the right move for our family. Our kids were young, and the change gave us more time to simply be present.
After a while, though, we began thinking about what might come next. We were drawn to something that would let us solve practical operational problems while directly serving our local community.
The idea of building a modern laundromat ticked every box. Laundry isn’t a luxury. It is an absolute necessity. Yet so many local facilities feel neglected or outdated. We saw a chance to change that.
We wanted to build a clean, modern, high quality space right here in Margate, where neighbors can feel comfortable taking care of an essential chore. It would also give us a meaningful way to contribute to the community we love.
Why Margate
Our family has driven past this location on North State Road 7 for years. It sits along one of the everyday routes connecting Margate, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs and North Lauderdale. People travel this road for work, school, errands and home.
We’ve also watched Margate invest in what comes next. Plans for the new City Center, proposed development along State Road 7 and the city’s ongoing streetscape and beautification work all point to a community moving forward.
We want MAYN to be a useful part of that progress. Laundry is an essential part of every week, and our goal is simple: to create a modern, dependable neighborhood place that local families can feel comfortable using and count on week after week.
We’ll show you the decisions as we make them
Over the coming months, we’re going to share more than construction photographs and countdowns.
We’ll explain why we planned different washer sizes, why bulky items such as comforters influenced the equipment mix, how we are thinking about folding space and customer flow, and how we’re designing the experience in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole.
Some decisions are final. Others are still being worked through. We’ll be clear about the difference.
This is not a story about making laundry glamorous. It is a story about paying attention to the small things that can make an ordinary chore easier.
What will be available at opening
MAYN is expected to open in summer 2027 with:
- Self service laundry
- Drop off wash and fold
- Help on site for customers who need it
Pickup, delivery and commercial laundry are planned for a later phase. We want to introduce those services after the store is running and we know we can do them properly.
Follow the build
There is still plenty of work ahead of us. We’ll share the useful parts as MAYN moves from plans, to construction, to a real neighborhood laundromat.
If you live nearby, we would also like to hear from you: what is one thing that would make laundry day easier?
Join the opening list for occasional updates, construction progress and news about our soft opening. No daily promotions. No clutter. Just the important milestones as we get closer to opening the doors.
